Challenge Activity
STAGE ONE: GAMIFICATION

Using the insights gained from my user interviews and surveys last week, this week I put together two user personas which I think reflect the two main archetypes of users I anticipate using the finished digital product.
STAGE TWO: SKETCHING FUNDAMENTALS
STAGE THREE: DESIGN STUDIO
In my first design studio I decided to work on incorporating gamification into my product. I’d identified examples of this done well and not-so-well during my competitive analysis so I had some idea of what to avoid. I wanted to create an engaging system of learning that rewards users but keeps the intrinsic motivations behind their desire to learn at the forefront.
This task was really beneficial for me, sketching is so fundamental to design for its efficiency and the way it allows us to rapidly ideate and iterate (VYHOUSKI, 2021) but I’m often hesitant to share my rough work. I’m a perfectionist to a fault and often feel uncomfortable sharing things that aren’t finished to a great standard. Stripping back the details and rapidly communicating the essentials was really helpful in moving past those hang ups and blockers. I sketched 6 solutions to my problem (1 min per solution) then spent 20 minutes critiquing each and a further 1 min per design generating new iterations. When I settled on a path forward I sketch dit out in more detail.
